We have now initiated some new system groups, "Residents" and "Press Lounge", which could not directly be joined, like all other system groups too. The group "Residents" will get its members assigned (but unactivated) from the system, if a logged in member has an ip-address out of Canada, followed by a manual check of the group administrators (Elke and Bizzys) if the according member is really a resident in British Columbia. Because group memberships are displayed within a profile, the group "Residents" will help all members to identify, which members are really living in British Columbia and therefore are meetable on site. Additionally the group "Residents" is a closed group, so all members (means identified residents) are enabled to discuss and communicate within this group without having people not living in British Columbia get involved. (Yes, this means, that (at least currently) carpet and chrispe could not be part of this group.) The other new system group "Press Lounge" is completely based on manual checked member assignment. On the one hand there were some press contacts within the last weeks according to different reports about Germans in British Columbia, on the other hand currently there are much more new press-related contacts in the context of the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. So we decided to create the system group "Press Lounge" to provide a closed discusssion, communication and exchange workspace for all press-related members. Additionally the display of the membership in the system group "Press Lounge" helps to better identify already checked press-related contacts, like the membership in the system group "Residents" does too. You do not need to do anything to become a member of the system group "Residents"; you will be contacted, if the system identifies your location within Canada. But if you think, that you should be a member of the system group "Press Lounge", please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . |
